Dortmunder is any beer brewed in Dortmund, Germany. The city, however, is especially associated with the Export style.
Dortmunder is a golden lager that is more full in body and color than a Pilsner. It also employs fewer hops for bitterness and aroma. However, Dortmunders are typically drier than German pils and sweeter than Munich Helles. Goes great with chicken, spit-roasted meats, salmon, ham, bacon, and stew. Also called Export Lager.
